This is the first official journal entry! Here I will be sharing a little bit about what I'm up to and tools I'm using at the moment. To the left you can see some thumbnails of my work in Digital Imagery. Pretty soon you will be able to click an image to view it at a larger size. Keep checking for updates and thanks for visiting!

I am a graduate student in my last semester of the Instructional Technology Program at Bloomsburg University. I have a degree in music, specializing in vocal performance. Currently, I am in a rock band named DreadNaught. Look here for upcoming performances.

I am here in the lab working on a few things. Just had a meeting with my team and Dr. K. Yesterday I threw together a website for the band. Check it out! I have been CSS crazy over here!

Guess where I am! :) It's true... I'm here in the lab. My news for the day is that I purchased DreadNaughtOnline.com and RachelVazquez.com. I am looking for a webserver to host my pages for good. For now, I am leaving them on the server here at school and masking the URL and links. Email me if you know of any good hosts!!

This semester I am in Managing Multimedia Projects. We lovingly refer to the class as RFP (Request for Proposal). As you may have guessed, the bulk of the class revolves about receiving and replying to a RFP. Our proposal is due this Monday and after that we have about a month to prepare for our presentation of the proposal.

After the proposal is in, I predict things will start to settle down a little bit... I am planning to re-visit the old flash resume (which is currently not working too well). I am also going to decide on a host for my site. I have been having some issues with my page because of the masks and such.

So, I'll keep everyone posted! I may not get a chance to write again until next week sometime, but don't worry, I'll be back with a vengeance to finish up this site! (It's so much fun, I may never finish!)

So our proposal was handed in on Monday and I feel pretty relieved!! I have to say I love my group now more than ever :) I am looking forward to the presentation on the 22nd!

Only a couple of more hours in March 2004 - then only 37 more days until graduation. I have been planning an end of semester/graduation party for our department. The last few semesters there was no interest and I thought that was a shame! We spend so much time together up here in the lab and make such great friends - I would hate to leave without celebrating with them one last time :) So the party is the day of graduation in a little place downtown. It should be lots of fun!

I started looking for apartments in the Northern NJ area. There seems to be quite a few places - even places that allow cats! I just have to wait til I get a job now :)

In other news, I purchased some webspace and will hopefully be moving my stuff to a new server within the next few days!

Last tidbit - I am starting Illustrator next week!

The website is up and running on my new server! So far so good - although there were some obstacles at first. So - a little summary for all of you who aren't familiar with the process of getting your own space on the internet:

1. Choose/Register a domain name
   • There are lots of sites online that will let you browse or search available domain names. Do a search for 'Domain Names' on Google or Ask Jeeves to begin.
   • You can register your name at the same place you chose to host your site - but most places will also just register the name. I chose GoDaddy.com. Right now anything under $10 is a good deal for a year of registering.
2. Choose a host
   • This was the one I had the most trouble with. Do a search on 'web hosts.' I found a pretty useful site - findmyhosting.com. Here are a few things to look for in a host:
     • Server Space - Will the size of your space support what you are intending to put on it?
     • Bandwidth (per month) - Will the amount of bandwidth be enough to cover the amount that will be transferred by your visitors?
     • Reliability - How often is the server up and functioning? It should be at least 99%!
     • Tech/Customer Support - I needed a bit of help with my initial set-up. Make sure the host you choose offers fast, easy and free tech support.
     • Other features: e-mail accounts, scripting support, databases, etc.

Hi all! I am sorry about the delay in writing! I have been busy searching for jobs and a place to live! As well as my coursework. :)

Next week is Corporate Advisory Counsel (CAC) and our RFP proposal presentations. I am looking foward to presenting our solution to the CAC! Wish my team (eLumiTech) luck!

In webhosting news... I purchased space on my current server to host our band website - DreadNaught Online.
